Preview DescriptionHowto install a mass air flow senserThe mass air flow senser is designed to measure the amount of airentering the engine from the air filter.It send the information tothe car's engine control unit,which in turn determines the amount offuel and spark that goes into the engine.A broken mass air flow senser can possibly cause a wide range of various vehicle drivabilityproblems such as stalling,especially when the engine cold,misfiring,poor acceleration,etc.This article deals with the airflow senser for a 2008 Scion xB,but the process is similar for othervehicles.Instructions:1.Open the hood and locate the mass air flow sensor.It should be locatedjust to the left of the air box-where the air filter is located- on theair intake tube.There is a small harness plugging into it,and the wiringfor the harness is clipped into the air box.Pull the wiring out of the clip.2.Unclip the mass air flow sensor from the wiring harness.Using either aPhillips/Torx screwdriver or unscrew the screws and carefully remove the MAF.3.Carefully place the replacement mass air flow sensor into the intaketube,orienting the MAF back in the same direction as the original one.Screw it in place and Plug the wiring harness back in placeand then push the wiring into the clip on the air box.
